Nicolas Nelson

Nick Nelson was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2008. Since then he has focused on serving his clients and offering practical legal advice that accomplishes the goals of his clients and serves their best interest. Nick's personality, knowledge, and skills have proven beneficial for clients in legal disputes ranging from divorce, civil litigation, business guidance, and negotiations. Nick has won numerous awards and recognition from the legal community, including AVVO Excellent Rating, AVVO Featured Attorney Divorce, AVVO Top Contributor, AVVO Clients' Choice, American Institute of Family Law Attorneys 10 Best for Client Satisfaction, The National Advocates Top 40 Under 40.
Prior to opening NN Legal, Nick worked for the law firm of Keay & Costello P.C. where he concentrated on Family Law, Civil Litigation (including contractual disputes, business litigation, and mechanic's liens litigation), and Real Estate transactions. Nick continues to utilize the wealth of experience he has gathered to serve the clients at NN Legal.
Nick is very active in the legal community as a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the DuPage County Bar Association. Nick is also the director and co-writer of the DuPage County Bar Association's Judges' Nite Show, an annual fundraiser benefitting Legal Aid.
Mr. Nelson was born in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He obtained his Juris Doctorate from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. While attending law school, Nick was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar as a student attorney representing low-income tenants in housing disputes. He was also an associate editor for Hamline's Journal of Public Policy.
Nick graduated in 2002, cum laude, from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, majoring in Communication. Before law school, Nick worked in the sports media for eight years. He was an assistant producer for the Minnesota Vikings, Minnesota Wild and worked as the assistant producer for nbcolympics.com
