A former General Counsel to the Federal Trade Commission, Mit advises and represents clients on a wide range of competition and antitrust issues that fall within the regulatory purview of the Federal Trade Commission and the Justice Department’s Antitrust Division including substantive antitrust issues, market concentration and definition issues and Hart-Scott-Rodino Act compliance. Mit represents clients before the federal and state antitrust agencies on mergers and acquisitions and in response to federal and state competition investigations. Mit also represents clients in matters involving advertising claims, consumer protection issues and privacy matters before federal and state agencies, and in federal Lanham Act litigation. Mit was part of the team orchestrating the strategy and response of The TJX Companies, Inc. relating to the highly publicized intrusion into TJX's computer network, advised TJX in its dealings with the FTC and assisted the company in responding to numerous FTC information requests. In addition to his tenure at the Federal Trade Commission, Mit also served in the United States Department of Justice where he served as principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the Civil Division. There, Mit was principally involved in litigation arising out of federal regulatory activities and cases involving separation of powers and federalism and handled cases before the Federal District Courts and the United States Courts of Appeals and worked closely with the Office of the Solicitor General on cases pending before the United States Supreme Court. Mit has written extensively on the legal and political issues affecting the technology and telecommunications industries.
