Mindy S. Meigs

Having spent 15 years as an IRS Office of Chief Counsel attorney, Mindy Meigs has a unique insider perspective to the way the IRS works.

She applies her immense experience and procedural knowledge to leverage the process in her client’s favor on all IRS matters, including collections, audits, and litigation.

“Because I know that inside information, it helps me generate strategies and decision points needed for my clients because I know what’s going to happen next,” Mindy said.

Her work in the IRS Office of Chief Counsel primarily focused on Audits, where she would represent the government in U.S. Tax Court, and Collections, where she would serve as a liaison between the IRS and Department of Justice on case referrals.

Mindy is also well-versed in bankruptcy work, where she would appear as Special Assistant U.S. Attorney representing the IRS in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Her knowledge of not only the administrative process but also the litigation process and U.S. Tax Court procedures is a result of her handling over 500 U.S. Tax Court cases and 30 trials.

“I am very familiar with the procedural elements of a case and what significant actions or inactions by the IRS could potentially mean,” she said. “So I’m able to help people navigate the process and figure out the best way to get their issue resolved.”

Mindy’s regular and ongoing working relationships with IRS and Department of Justice attorneys enables her to advise her clients on what next steps are relevant and recommended in their case.
