Michael Timbes
Michael A. Timbes, founding partner, leads the firm’s business litigation and general civil litigation practices and handles the firm’s appeals. He is also a certified civil court mediator and is appointed by the South Carolina Supreme Court to the Board of Bar Examiners. Prior to joining Thurmond, Kirchner, Timbes & Yelverton, P.A., he worked as an associate attorney on the business litigation team with Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice, PLLC, in Atlanta, Georgia. Before that, he served as a law clerk for the Honorable Kaye G. Hearn, then Chief Judge of the South Carolina Court of Appeals. He also has served as an adjunct professor of legal writing and research as well as a guest lecturer for the Charleston School of Law. Timbes earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, where he graduated cum laude and was inducted into the Order of the Coif and the Order of the Wig and Robe. He is licensed to practice in both South Carolina and Georgia and is admitted to appear before all trial and appellate courts in South Carolina, the Supreme Court of Georgia, the United States District Court for the District of South Carolina and the Northern District of Georgia, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Eighth Circuits. Timbes is a member of the South Carolina Bar Association, the Charleston County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association. Timbes, who has successfully argued in both the South Carolina Court of Appeals and the South Carolina Supreme Court, was recognized in 2012 for achieving one of the state’s top 20 largest jury verdicts.
