Matthew Starling

Matthew Starling, a native of Spartanburg, SC, embarked on a remarkable journey that reflects his dedication and passion for justice. After graduating from Mars Hill University in 2012, Matthew initially ventured into the corporate world, where he honed his skills in sales and management over six years. However, fueled by a desire for a more impactful career, he made the life-changing decision to pursue law.

His pursuit led him to Western Michigan University Cooley Law School in Michigan, where Matthew immersed himself in legal studies. His hard work and dedication culminated in his graduation in 2020 with the prestigious Magna Cum Laude distinction. Eager to give back to his community, Matthew returned to his hometown in the upstate of South Carolina.

In the Seventh Judicial Circuit, Matthew served as a Senior Assistant Public Defender for two years, advocating for justice and ensuring legal representation for those in need. His commitment to his clients did not go unnoticed, earning him the esteemed Pro Bono Publico Award during his tenure.

Matthew has continued his legal journey with Stewart Law, concentrating on personal injury and workers’ compensation cases. Licensed in both North Carolina and South Carolina, he operates from the Spartanburg office, bringing his wealth of experience and passion to every case he handles.

Beyond his legal endeavors, Matthew finds solace in the outdoors, sharing the joys of gardening with his wife. His dedication extends to environmental conservation, reflecting his commitment to making a positive impact beyond the courtroom.
