Matthew Carney is a Partner at Carey Leisure Carney, focused on advocating for the injured. Prior to joining the team at Carey Leisure Carney, Matthew was an associate at a preeminent insurance defense firm, and was previously a licensed insurance agent and commercial property and casualty underwriter. Building on this experience, he focuses his practice of plaintiff representation on the tactics employed by insurance companies to avoid the fair handling of claims.
Matthew values his clients, and believes in educating his clients to make sure they are fully informed when making important decisions regarding their case. He believes that clients deserve to have all the information on the litigation process in order to make fully informed decisions that will be best for them.
Matthew graduated from Stetson University College of Law with honors, where he received the Victor O. Wehle Award for excellence in Trial Advocacy. During law school, Matthew served as a judicial intern for the Second District Court of Appeal under Judge Craig C. Villanti for the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida under Magistrate Judge Thomas G. Wilson.
Outside the office, Matthew enjoys spending time with his wife and their two sons.
