Mark Caruso and Caruso Law Offices only handle personal injury and wrongful death claims. This lets us focus our entire practice just on personal injury and wrongful death, and explains why we are so good at what we do. The majority of our new clients are referred to our firm by former clients, other attorneys who don't handle personal injury claims and insurance agents. A former insurance comapany attorney, Mark Caruso now works for victims with personal injuries and families suffering the wrongful death of their loved one to get the maximum amount possible from the insurance company. Mark Caruso knows the "ins and outs" of the insurance business, and he will use his experience to get you the best outcome. A graduate of Pepperdine University School of Law in California and the National College of Trial Advocacy, Mark is licensed in both New Mexico and California. He has been an attorney for 32 years. The attorneys and staff at Caruso Law Offices have been personally trained by Mark Caruso to only handle personal injury and wrongful death claims. Our primary practice is in the area of car, truck, motorcycle, bicycle, pedestrian and semi-truck collisions. We can refer you to medical doctors, orthopedic surgeons, chiropractors, neurologists, dentists, accupuncturists, physical therapists, licensed medical massage therapists and other specialists who will agree to wait until your case settles before they need to be paid any money whatsoever. We have 2 offices in Albuquerque to serve you--our main Northeast Heights office is near Montgomery NE and Carlisle NE and our West side office is near Coors NW and Interstate 40. - Q. Hit by drunk driver, both vehicles totaled. Other driver charged with DUI and off to jail. Injuries, maybe long term.
- A: I am so sorry to hear of your recent crash which was caused by a drunk driver. DWI's continue to be a real problem in our state. You can bring a personal injury claim against the driver and insurance company for all injuries suffered by you and your family. Each of you have an individual claim. Your claim would be for past and future medical bills, past and future pain and suffering, past and future lost wages or loss of income, partial permanent injury and disability and punitive damages. You have three years from the date of the crash in which to settle your case or file a lawsuit. Your goal should be to settle only you have fully resolved your injuries, even if it takes time and continued treatment to do so. As a former insurance company attorney I know that the insurance company will do all it can to settle with you as low as possible. The goal of the insurance company--especially when a DWI is involved--is to get you to sign a Release and pay you a few dollars to go away as quickly as possible. You should treat for all of your injuries. If you don't have health insurance or even if your own health insurance won't see you for your crash injuries or even if you don't want to pay a deductible or co-pay, then we can refer you to NM doctors who will wait to get paid. For instance, there is a doctor in Carlsbad that we have worked with before with other clients who will wait to get paid from the auto insurance. You will need an attorney specializing in car crashes to help you with your case. You don't want to hire a general practice attorney when dealing with an insurance company. It's best to find a law firm that deals with these types of cases all day--every day. You also need to make sure that you hire a New Mexico attorney who deals with car accidents. Caruso Law Offices exclusively handles car and truck accidents. It's the only kind of cases our attorneys and staff handle 24/7. We handle cases throughout New Mexico. We are based in Albuquerque and have a satellite office in Rio Rancho. Please feel free to call me for a free consultation at 505-883-5000
- Q. I received a summons due to careless driving. I was driving to work and had an accident. What are my options.
- A: Thank you for contacting Caruso Law Offices. You will need a criminal attorney in the county where the citation was issued. (Not saying that you are a criminal, but criminal attorneys handle citations like the careless driving citation you received.) We don't handle these types of cases. We only handle personal injury and wrongful death cases.
- Q. Would arbitration ever be preferable to a lawsuit in a personal injury case involving a car accident where both people
- A: I think you are asking whether an arbitration is preferable to a jury trial. Arbitrations are typically much less expensive, quicker and easier than a jury trial. An arbitration is typically done before a single arbitrator or group of arbitrators and is typically completed in less than one day.
