Q. How do you know this lawyer?
  • Current or Former Co-Worker/Colleague
  • Classmate at Law School
  • Friend

I have known Bob since 1973 when we were classmates at Notre Dame Law School. After graduation Bob and I have discussed/analyzed, in depth, many cases. I represented a client of Bob's in an Indiana case and worked closely with Bob in that case until its conclusion. Bob has represented me for several years when my firm had a profit sharing plan.

Q. In the cases you were involved in with this attorney, which of the following apply?
  • Same Client
  • Represented Me or My Company

I represented a client of Bob's in an Indiana case and worked closely in that case until its conclusion. Bob has represented me for several years when my firm had a profit sharing plan.

Q. When did you work with this lawyer?
I represented Bob's client in a court civil matter in 2010. The case was concluded in 2011. Bob represented my firm's profit sharing plan for over 20 years, from its inception until the plan was terminated.
Q. Was this lawyer an effective advocate/counselor and why?
Yes

Bob believes in his clients and puts their interests above all else. He is a problem solver for his clients. He works hard to know the facts and the law of each case and then persuasively argues for his clients.

Q. Please rate this lawyer on the following:

Legal Knowledge: Excellent

Bob is the most knowledgeable attorney in the area of employee benefit plans area I have worked with. He is sensitive to his client's needs and uses his extensive knowledge and understanding of the law and regulations in this very complex area to help his clients (including me). Bob's legal knowledge extends well beyond the employee benefit plans area. In the Indiana litigation, he had a solid understanding of civil litigation, including discovery and trial strategy.

Legal Analysis: Excellent

Bob's judgment in legal matters is well thought out and based on over 40 years of work with clients, the IRS and opposing attorneys. He has a wonderful ability to communicate his legal analysis and opinions in ways that allow others to understand.

Communication Skills: Excellent

Bob is very articulate. He is a "people person" who genuinely likes others. He never meets a stranger.

Ethics and Professionalism: Excellent

Bob never looks to find a "way around" our ethics. Instead, he discovers how to work with our ethical rules. He is honest. Bob is the consummate professional.

Q. For which practice area(s) would you recommend this lawyer?
I recommend Bob for employee benefit planning, including all aspects of ERISA compliance and the establishment of both qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. I also recommend him for civil and trust litigation, estate and business planning, commercial transactions, tax planning, and tax dispute resolution.
