I am Larry J. Ford, an attorney with 49 years of experience, providing legal services to business owners, families, individuals, and retired persons. My areas of practice include Asset Protection Planning, Business Planning, Corporations, Charitable Trusts, Estate Planning, Federal Tax Planning, Family Limited Partnerships, Limited Liability Companies, Living Trusts, Medicaid Planning, Real Estate, and Wills and Estates.
I began my legal career in the Asheville/Hendersonville area, then transitioned to the corporate business and legal sectors in Charlotte, NC, before moving back to Hayesville in 1991. While in Charlotte, I held positions as Vice-President/Legal Counsel at two different title insurance companies and worked as a Development Manager with real estate development firms.
I earned my Juris Doctor degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law in Chapel Hill, NC, where I was honored with the Albert Ellis Fellowship for all three years of law school by the UNC Law Alumni Association. Additionally, I graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. from Western Carolina University.
Born and raised in Clay County, NC, I am a proud alumnus of Hayesville High School.

- Q. What is included in a list of personal property when you are the administator in an estate
- A: No, you do not "have to give away" your husband's drums, jewelry and other personal effects. You do have to list those items on both the initial inventory and the "90-day" inventory, along with the fair market value of those items.
