An attorney who could care less...
Kirsten Bernhardt was referred to us by an attorney friend and was the worst mistake we could have made in our adult guardianship case. On the day of court she admitted that she never even read one document in our file. Guardianship was already granted
and was fully inline with what the Ward wanted but her son was only interested in stealing her assets and preferred to let the Ward desicate in her home instead of enjoying life to the fullest. Kirsten Bernhardt asked what we wanted, and believe me, we had every last document to prove that we had the Wards best interest in mind and kept meticulous records, then went in the complete opposite direction of the wards wishes and our wishes. She simply did not care enough to read one document in our case and admitted such in court in front of ever single person in the courtroom stating that she could not find her glasses the night before and then actually laughed it off. This sorry excuse for an attorney went out of her way to literally blow us off like we were a spec of lint on her shoulder. We still have guardianship of the ward but thanks to this lawyers attitude the ward is now suffering and being abused by one of her own sons who only wants the wards assets contrary to the wards wishes. Which this attorney would have known if she would have cared enough to look at a single document in the file. Kirsten Bernhardt actually then had the gall to ask for more money during a break in the courthouse hallway literally letting us know that she had no interest in our family or the law and would simply do what she wanted to get out of the courthouse as soon a possible. Kirsten Bernhardt will promise you the world and pretend that she cares and then will literally kick you to the curb. As for the lawyer who referred us to her, he was there and right in front of us, when she actually thanked this attorney for the referral by stating "thanks for getting me into this mess". You can only imagine how that made us feel. We paid good money for a lawyer who we were assured during our consultation with her, cared about justice, only to find out that Kirsten Bernhardt could care less and actually expects her clients to pay her more money for simply appearing and speaking on your behalf. If you like throwing away money on a person who could care less about you and your family I highly recommend Kirsten Bernhardt. If you actually care about your family and your loved ones then I would highly recommend that you do your research and spend your hard earned money on a lawyer who actually understands the concept of caring and being empathetic to your legal needs. Kirsten Bernhardt is totally unprofessional and will only be a total embarrassment when it comes to standing up for you and your family in court. Kirsten Bernhardt will ask for your opinion and will then do the total opposite of what is good and right. Kirsten Bernhardt will only resolve your legal issue in the fasted way possible in order to get rid of you and then laugh at you in your face in a hallway of the courthouse as if you were a piece of gum on the floor that she stepped into. As far as the Ward, a mother we love and personally care for day in and day out, is now sitting in her home as if her life never mattered while her son who never cared for her uses her assets to his benefit instead of providing for his mother. I highly suggest that you keep your loved ones away from this attorney unless you are like Kirsten Bernhardt and really want to punish your loved ones. Thanks to the non-efforts of Kirsten Bernhardt we now care for an 81 years old mother with dementia who is actually desiccating in her home while one of her son's sits ideally by waiting for his mother to pass away. This particular son and Kirsten Bernhardt have a lot in common they will roll right over anyone to get money and will accept any type of bargain or settlement and then simply walk away and wait for you to die. Thanks to Kirsten Bernhardt the Ward now has had every legal right, wish, and quality of life taken away from her. It is truly heartbreaking to have had an attorney to never even care enough to open a file to understand a dying woman's wishes. The only upside is the Ward has dementia and no longer remembers this incident, but as for the ones who love this woman and have to sit and watch our loved one slowly slip away we can only look back and marvel at the lack of moral ethics of Kirsten Bernhardt as a lawyer. The outcome of this case was Kirsten Bernhardt totally ignored her client who has guardianship and came to an agreement with a family member who didn't even have guardianship over the ward in order to swiftly sweep this case under the rug and out of sight. Teachable lesson and reminder, ALWAYS do your research on a lawyer and always remind that lawyer that they work for you. It's your life not the attorney's life. Kirsten Bernhardt simply does not care she only wants her ego stroked and pocket book padded.
