Katherine A. Young has been a resident of East Tennessee for almost 30 years. Her practice focus is on the probate of estates and the preparation of Last Will and Testament packages for clients. She also handles some employment and small business matters.
Katherine has handled probate of estates in counties throughout East Tennessee. This includes probate litigation for will contests. She also prepares Last Will and Testament packages (including a Durable Power of Attorney for Healthcare, a Living Will and a Master HIPAA release) for clients, as well as Durable General Powers of Attorney, Quitclaim Deeds, and Revocations of Powers of Attorney.
Typical employment matters handled by the firm include non-compete agreement reviews, reviews of severance packages, wage and hour or overtime claims, and misclassification of employees as independent contractors.
Katherine previously taught at the University of Tennessee as an Assistant Professor for five years and additionally for four years as a Lecturer. She also has been a Human Services Hearing Office and a Human Rights Investigator for the State of New Mexico. She is licensed to practice law in Tennessee and California (inactive). She is admitted to the U.S. Supreme Court, the U.S. Tax Court, the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Tennessee, the Middle District of Tennessee, and the Southern District of California. She is also admitted to all Tennessee and California state courts.
