Karla Michelle Torres Sueiro
Karla Torres Sueiro is a Hispanic attorney, dedicated exclusively to humanitarian and family immigration cases.
Before opening her private practice in Knoxville, Tennessee, Karla supervised the immigration legal services and Legal Orientation Program provided to adults detained in ICE facilities for one of the American Bar Association's most recognized legal services providers in South Texas.
Prior to this, Karla served as a Senior Attorney for the Unaccompanied Minors Program of the ABA's South Texas Asylum Representation Project, mentoring attorneys representing unaccompanied children. Karla was one of the first lawyers to bring legal assistance to people affected by the U.S. government program known as MPP, or Remain in Mexico, which returned asylum seekers to Mexico while they waited for their U.S. immigration court proceedings.
As an immigration attorney, Karla has represented unaccompanied children, adults detained in ICE custody, and families navigating complex immigration matters before the Immigration Court, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the various immigration agencies of the United States.
Before Brexit, Karla assisted citizens of European Union countries, living in the United Kingdom, to exercise their residency and citizenship rights. Karla has participated in humanitarian immigration panel discussions and numerous presentations on migrant rights, and initiatives to develop and guarantee education on immigration issues.
Karla is licensed and admitted by the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. Karla has a Juris Doctor from the Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico, School of Law, and a Master of Laws in International Criminal Justice and Human Rights from Kent Law School. In addition, she has an Industrial and Organizational Psychology Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Puerto Rico, and a Master of Arts in Labor Relations from the Interamerican University of Puerto Rico.
