Karen Yochim has practiced in Gainesville, Florida since 2003, primarily in the area of family law. However, she also represents clients in estate planning and administration, guardianship and incapacity proceedings, and probate matters. Her educational and career background provides her with the legal, financial and psychological knowledge to effectively serve her clients in these areas of the law. Karen has extensive valuable experience representing clients facing complex dissolution of marriage issues such as: retirement account distributions, business valuations, contested custody cases involving mental health professionals and mental health evaluations, establishment and modification of alimony, property distribution, and attorney’s fee matters. She also assist clients with estate and incapacity planning including: preparing trusts for elderly adults and minor children and representing clients seeking guardianship of incapacitated adults and children, as well. Karen received her B.A. degree in Economics from Furman University, with a concentration in psychology, in 1997. After working for one of the nation’s largest banks as a branch manager for several years, she returned to school and received her J.D., cum laude, from the University of Florida Levin College of Law in 2003. When not advocating for her clients, Karen spends time with her two small children. She enjoys boating, reading, and being outdoors.
