Biography

As a former prosecutor, I understand the complexities of working a case inside and outside a courtroom. Having experience working in cases involving investigators, law enforcement, civilian witnesses, evidence departments, parenting coordinators, guardian ad litem coordinators and attorneys, Department of Children and Families’ case managers and attorneys, as well as counsel for other parties, I have been able to understand and have the ability to work towards the resolution of any situation, in my covered areas of law. As a current Florida Supreme Court Certified Mediator, as well as, an attorney for children (Attorney ad Litem), I am able to understand the seriousness of the handling of a family law case, whether it is an adoption, guardianship, paternity matter, dissolution of marriage, timesharing and/or parenting plan establishment, child support establishment and/or modification, as well as a dependency and/or domestic relations case. Furthermore, my passion for criminal law allows me to be an advocate for those individuals charged with a crime to ensure that their due process and constitutional rights are protected. I am also fully bilingual in English and Spanish.

I also attended law school at Florida A&M University (FAMU), College of Law, located in Orlando. While in law school, I was invited to become a member of FAMU’s Law Review. I graduated cum laude from FAMU’s College of Law and ranked in the top 12% of the total class.

After graduation, I worked, as a prosecutor, at the State Attorney’s Office for the Fifth Judicial Circuit in both Marion and Lake County.

I strongly believe that every person deserves to have representation and consider myself to be an advocate for those in need of help.

Q. The children were taken from the mom in Hillsboro co they live with us in Broward where woukd mom file to get them back
A: If the children were sheltered from the Mother in a dependency (DCF ) case and the case was closed permanent guardianship with you having custody, the Mother would have to seek to reopen the dependency case and ask for reunification. the Family Court will not be able to give custody to the Mother back if a dependency case was closed permanent guardianship. the dependency case would have to be addressed first.
Q. I was given custody of my grandchildren here in Broward County Florida They were taken into DCF custody in Hillsboro Co
A: The Mother would have to make herself available in the dependency case in order to ensure her rights are not terminated and to litigate that case. If you were given custody of the children at some point, you should contact the Department to see if they would consider you as a placement for the children, in the interim, to avoid the children being placed in foster care or remain in foster care. I am sure the more details are provided the different the answer would be, but I am providing this answer based on the facts above. Good luck.
