Q. I live in Southwest Florida, can you receive unemployment benefits at the same time as work comp check?
A: Generally, your husband cannot receive unemployment benefits and temporary total, or permanent total, disability benefits payable by the worker's compensation carrier. If your husband is receiving temporary partial disability benefits, the combined amount of unemployment benefits and temporary partial disability benefits cannot exceed the amount he would be eligible to receive in the form of temporary partial disability benefits. Under the circumstances described in your question, your husband would be wise to seek the advice of an attorney.
