John E. Suthers is a lawyer’s lawyer. He is often associated by other lawyers and law firms in specialized legal matters. Over his 35 year career, he has handled successfully a wide variety of complex personal injury and wrongful death cases. He was among the first attorneys in the United States to sue and obtain a jury verdict against a nursing home for abusing and neglecting an elderly patient. He has represented victims of medical malpractice in cases against doctors and hospitals, individuals who were injured as a result of defective products, including defective medical and surgical products and dangerous pharmaceutical drugs. He has tried and resolved successfully complex motor vehicle cases, such as tractor trailer collisions and railroad crossing cases. These types of cases often involve representing individuals who have suffered catastrophic injuries requiring lifetime medical care, and require an attorney who is skilled at presenting the economic and non-economic losses associated with a permanent, catastrophic injury or wrongful death. When the City of Savannah, Georgia, decided to file a lawsuit against the manufacturers and distributors of prescription opioids, the City retained Mr. Suthers’ law firm to represent it in the national opioid litigation pending in Federal court in Ohio.
John Suthers has been recognized by other professional organizations for his skill as a trial lawyer and his ethics. He was named one of the top 100 attorneys in the State of Georgia in 2018, 2015, 2014 and 2008 by Law & Politics, the publisher of Georgia Super Lawyers. Mr. Suthers was named Savannah’s lawyer of the year for 2014 and 2011 in the field of personal injury litigation by Best Lawyers, one of the oldest and most respected peer-reviewed publications in the legal field. Mr. Suthers has long held an AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell, one of the most highly regarded legal publications in America, indicating the highest level of skill and ethics.
