Prior to joining Goodwin Procter in 2006, Mr. Hess served as principal legal counsel for Second Solutions, Inc., a home health care and staffing company based in Boston. Previously, he served as vice president and associate general counsel of American Capital Strategies, Ltd., a publicly traded buyout and mezzanine fund with capital resources of approximately $5 billion based in Bethesda, Maryland. Before that, Mr. Hess was a partner in the New York office of Kirkland Ellis.

Mr. Hess served as an Editor of the Boston University Law Review

was named a Paul J. Liacos Distinguished Scholar and a G. Joseph Tauro Distinguished Scholar and received a Dean’s Award for selected course performance.
