Jason Waddell
Jason Waddell is a Board Certified Elder Law Attorney. He is a graduate of The University of Georgia & Cumberland School of Law at Samford University. While at Cumberland, Jason focused his studies on Estate Planning and Alternative Dispute Resolution. Following graduation Jason moved to Pensacola with his fiancée Amy Kicklighter. Jason is extremely passionate about his chosen field of practice. While not a factor in his decision to develop an Elder Law practice over a decade ago, his families’ struggles with illnesses such as Alzheimer’s over the past few years have intensified his desire to stay on top of his practice. Jason collaborates with several non-profit organizations along the Gulf Coast supporting his clients, such as, Covenant Alzheimer’s Services, Council on Aging, and Area Agency on Aging. Jason has emerged as a leader within the field of Elder Law. Aside from being one of only 99 Board Certified Florida Elder Law attorneys out of the 83,539 Florida Attorneys, Jason has written for The Advocate (Florida Bar Elder Law Section publication). In 2015, he was nominated to become the Section’s Treasurer as a part of the leadership track for the Elder Law Executive Council. Jason’s passion for seniors together with his unique humor have made him a sought after speaker within the field of Elder law. He has been selected to present for the past four years at the Florida Bar Elder Law Annual Update Course for advanced practitioners. Additionally he has spoken before the National Academy of Elder Law attorneys in Washington D.C. and countless churches and organizations along the Gulf Coast of Florida. Jason and his wife, Amy, live in Pensacola, FL where they are raising their son. Jason is a Cub Scout Den Leader for his son. When not with his family, Jason loves to talk college football, go fishing, and “capture pictures of the beautiful place he calls home.”

- On January 28, 2016 The Florida Bar honored Jason A. Waddell, Board Certified Elder Law Attorney, with the Florida Bar President’s Pro Bono Service Award for the 1st Judicial Circuit. The presentation took place within the Florida Supreme Court in an honorary session of the Court. Jason Waddell was nominated by the Legal Services of North Florida for his recent work putting together a joint Advance Directive program between their organization, N.W Florida Council on Aging, and the Escambia Santa Rosa Bar Association. Mr. Waddell created a free continuing legal education course for lawyers and paralegals in exchange for their contributing their time to a later workshop for volunteers within the Council on Aging. Mr. Waddell held several education events at the Bayfront Senior Center explaining the importance of advance directives. Through this program Mr. Waddell worked with over 10 lawyers and paralegals to have the most updated rules regarding financial and medical advanced directives who in turn provided documents to approximately 33 individuals. Mr. Waddell is involved with numerous other efforts from helping to establish a mentorship program within the Elder Law Section of the Florida Bar to working with several local organizations within this community who assist seniors and people suffering from progressive illnesses such as dementia.
