After Graduating from the University of Memphis Law School in 1997, James R. Owen moved back to East Tennessee and started practicing law, focusing mainly in the area of Criminal Defense and DUI/DWI defense. He has successfully defended thousands of citizens accused of crimes. He prides himself in investigating not only the facts of his case but also getting to know his clients on a personal level, so he can address any underlying personal issues that may have led to the criminal charges. This holistic approach often leads to a better outcome in the legal system, but also a better understanding of what a client needs to do to succeed in life. James R. Owen is a founding board member and the current secretary of the Friends of Knox County Recovery Court. Recovery Court focuses on addressing addiction in a long term therapeutic environment. James R. Owen also enjoys hiking, biking and running the trails of beautiful East Tennessee with his family.
