Henry F. (Hank) Sherrod III
Protecting civil rights for over 20 yearsI grew up the eldest son (of four sons) of the local legal services managing attorney in northwest Alabama. I pretty much always wanted to be a lawyer. After Vanderbilt for law school, I took a detour clerking for a federal circuit judge and working for a corporate law firm, both in Dallas, before returning to Alabama and eventually finding my true calling as a civil rights lawyer. I handle police misconduct and jail medical neglect cases throughout Alabama. I am a graduate of Gerry Spence’s Trial Lawyers College. I have served on the board of the ACLU of Alabama since 2005 and currently serve as the chair of its Legal Committee.
