Since 2004, Attorney Gerald Arrington has practiced extensively, and nearly exclusively, as a trial lawyer. He primarily focuses his practice on criminal defense, personal injury law, and family law. He has handled cases at all levels of the Virginia court system, including appeals before the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Virginia.

For more than a decade, he prosecuted the most heinous and serious crimes on behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Having won hundreds of cases before judges and juries in Circuit, General District, and Juvenile & Domestic Relations Courts in Virginia, Mr. Arrington knows what it takes to win— extensive trial experience, tireless dedication, thorough preparation, and open lines of client communication.

Prior to his nearly 20 years of practicing law, Mr. Arrington was born and raised in Southwest Virginia He graduated 5th in his class in law school where he earned a number of prestigious awards, including recognitional as the student in his Trial Advocacy, Virginia Practice and Procedure and Remedies classes.

After law school, he served the Commonwealth of Virginia as an aggressive criminal prosecutor where he “cut his teeth” prosecuting traffic tickets and DUIs before moving on to prosecuting drug crimes and serious violent crimes such as murder, arson, domestic violence, and malicious wounding.

In 2008, Arrington founded and operated a successful private practice focusing on criminal defense, family law, and personal injury cases. As a private practitioner, he successfully litigated hundreds of cases in the district, circuit, and appellate courts of Virginia. Elected in 2011, and re-elected again in 2015 and 2019, as the county’s chief prosecutor. Responsible for all aspects of the operation and management of the office. • Lead counsel in all murder and most of the violent crimes including robbery, rape, and vehicular manslaughter. • 100% conviction rate in murder cases. • 90%+ conviction rate in all jury trials as lead counsel. • Prepared press releases to the media and responded to interview requests. • Responsible for managing $1M budget and the supervision of four attorneys and numerous support staff. • Created and/or implemented multiple community outreach programs, including substance abuse education and prevention programs in our school system. • Expanded our Drug Court program, and created the Community Service Diversion Program for non-violent offenders.
