Biography

Eva DuBuisson received her law degree with high honors from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law in 2007, and has earned a Master of Public Policy degree from the Terry Sanford Institute of Public Policy at Duke University. While in law school, Ms. DuBuisson was a Chancellor’s Scholar, a published staff member of the North Carolina Law Review and an Articles & Notes Editor for the First Amendment Law Review, and admitted to the Order of the Coif. She completed her undergraduate studies at Duke University, where she was a Trinity Scholar and received an A.B. in public policy studies cum laude in 2001. Ms. DuBuisson has represented public school systems across North Carolina with Tharrington Smith since 2007, including successfully representing her clients in state and federal court and the N.C. Office of Administrative Hearings, and before agencies including the EEOC, U.S. Department of Education Office of Civil Rights, and N.C. Department of Public Instruction. She is a Council Member of the Education Law Section Council of the North Carolina Bar Association, and a frequent speaker on education law topics including students with disabilities, student discipline and due process, school governance, and school personnel matters.

Prior to attending law school, Ms. DuBuisson worked as Program Associate for Disaster Relief for the Lawyers Alliance for New York, specializing in legal issues related to post-9/11 relief agencies. Ms. DuBuisson received the Super Lawyers “Rising Star” award for 2014.

Ms. DuBuisson is a public school board lawyer.
