- Q. I need immediate assistance with my Dad's estate. Fraud has been committed, what do I do to resolve this matter?
- A: You should consult with an attorney who handles successions or estate matters. You should get an attorney immediately if you suspect fraud.
- Q. Can a hearing officer order a drug screen without any evidence, in a custody battle?
- A: The law requires that there be good cause shown to order a drug screen. If a hearing officer orders one, that order can be appealed to a trial judge immediately. In a "good cause" standard of review, however, the courts are given a wide range of deference, and such an order is rarely overturned if the matter ever makes it to a court of appeal.
- Q. i know my "parents" use my checks that i get from the state for drugs. they never buy me things that need
- A: I'm sorry to hear about your situation. You would have to be emancipated to legally leave the house at 16. I would recommend that you contact an adult family member who may be able to help with your situation, or contact DCFS (Child Protection) to intervene and get you the help that you need. If you feel that you are not safe, you should call 911.
