Christopher Maurer

Christopher J. Maurer is a licensed Illinois attorney with over two decades of litigation experience primarily in the areas of divorce and family law, as well as estate planning. He practices in DuPage County, Cook County, Kane County, and the other collar counties. Chris has focused his practice in the area of family law, including divorce issues (contested and uncontested divorces, complex financial and business divorces), and paternity cases, preparation of prenuptial agreements and postnuptial agreements, custody disputes, establishing visitation schedules, child support calculation and alimony/maintenance determination, grandparent rights, disputes regarding removing children from Illinois, and enforcing court orders. Chris is also regularly appointed as a Guardian ad Litem to represent children in divorces and disabled adults in guardianship proceedings. Chris is a certified mediator and has mediated and negotiated parenting agreements and financial settlements for numerous couples going through the divorce process.
Chris also assists his clients in preparing their estate plans, including wills, trusts and powers of attorney for health care and property. He also has substantial appellate litigation experience, having won several cases on appeal before the Illinois Appellate Court, one of which was sent back to the trial court, resulting in a $1.7 million verdict in favor of the Appellant upon retrial.
Chris earned his Juris Doctorate from Loyola University of Chicago's College of Law in 1997 and his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in 1994.
