Chuck Stevens joined Phillips ADR after a 40-year career as a litigation partner at Gibson Dunn & Crutcher, U.S. Attorney, and neutral in ADR matters. At Gibson Dunn’s San Francisco office, he served as managing partner for six years and was recognized by Lawdragon (2023 Leading Global Litigators), Benchmark Litigation (2024 Litigation Star), and Chambers (Band 1, California Litigation). He was named San Francisco’s Lawyer of the Year for Bet-the-Company Litigation (2019) by Best Lawyers.
Chuck founded a boutique litigation firm, handling complex civil cases and qui tam matters. As a neutral, he mediated for the Eastern District of California’s Voluntary Dispute Resolution Program and worked full-time as a mediator/arbitrator in 2012–2013, earning Best Lawyers and Northern California Super Lawyers ADR listings. He taught Mediation at UC Davis Law.
As U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of California, Chuck led initiatives on False Claims Act and fraud cases, serving on the Attorney General’s Advisory Committee. He was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in the Central District of California, focusing on public corruption and fraud.
Chuck served as President of the National Association of Former U.S. Attorneys and on boards like Legal Aid of Marin. A UC Berkeley Law and Colgate graduate, he lives in Marin County with his wife, Ann, and is a competitive gravel and mountain bike racer.
