Charles Frier
I have been an Assistant District Attorney (4 1/2 years); a Staff Attorney/Special Prosecutor for a State Agency with state-wide jurisdiction (7 years); and a Defense Attorney in solo private practice since then.State prosecutor for over 11 years; have tried over 100 felony cases, including 2 death penalty cases. As a defense attorney since then, I have specialized in appeals of criminal convictions, achieving a very high reversal rate. Currently actively engaged in a death penalty appeal, awaiting the docketing notice from the Georgia Supreme Court. Criminal law is all that I have done in my career, and I have a passion for the work I do. I also have a deep commitment to my clients. As I tell all of my clients and potential clients, I have only one standard of legal representation: I will work as hard for you as I would want an attorney to work for me if I were in prison seeking to get my conviction overturned.

Free Consultation
I meet with prospective clients for about an hour to discuss the status of the case, what services I can provide, and what the costs will be. I am very honest in these meetings -- I have turned down cases where there were no appeals left, since I will not take money from a desperate person when I know that there is no help I, or anyone else, can actually give. -
Rates, Retainers and Additional Information
Georgia does not allow contingent fees in criminal cases. My fees are quite reasonable, and vary depending on the nature and complexity of the appeal and length of the case I'm appealing from -- for example, I charge A LOT more for an appeal of a 7-week long death penalty trial than I do for an appeal of a 2-day long drug trafficking trial.
