Chad's practice focuses on intellectual property licensing, technology transactions, copyright counseling, cyber law, open-source licensing, and new media.
Chad spent six years as a software engineer for IBM and several startups developing chip testing software, advanced Linux firewalls and internet traffic routing technologies prior to attending law school. Chad has both in-house and law firm experience having served as an associate for four years in the IP Licensing/Technology Transaction Group of Fenwick & West LLP in San Francisco and more recently as Senior Licensing Counsel for Dolby Laboratories in San Francisco.
Chad has a special interest in copyright law and open-source issues and has authored or co-authored articles on topics such as digital rights management, website immunity under the DMCA safe harbors and the CDA Section 230, and new media licensing in The Cyberspace Lawyer, The Privacy & Data Protection Legal Reporter and the Daily Journal.
