- Brian works closely with high net worth individuals, senior executives, private equity and hedge fund principals, and established family offices on a variety of estate and trust matters. In the international arena, Brian works with his foreign client base to structure the ownership of U.S. and foreign privately-held business interests, real estate and other investments under the complex U.S. income, gift and estate tax rules that apply to foreign individuals. Brian also assists foreign executives who are moving to the United States with pre immigration tax and estate planning. Brian works regularly with foreign counsel to coordinate his U.S. tax and estate planning advice with the law of a foreign client’s home jurisdiction. Brian is a regular lecturer on foreign trusts and generation-skipping transfer tax matters at programs sponsored by Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE), and has spoken on foreign trusts as part of the ALI-ABA course of study on Sophisticated Estate Planning Techniques. He has also written or contributed to various articles, including an article in Estate Planning entitled “New Regs. on the Tax Effects of Funding ‘Outbound’ Foreign Trusts” and the chapter on foreign trusts in Drafting Irrevocable Trusts in Massachusetts, published by MCLE.
