Biography
I am a local attorney with a focus on real estate, landlord-tenant, and wills and estates. But I can and will take any matter that arises should you need me, if I do not feel comfortable in handling your matter I will do my best to find you a lawyer that is.
I live in Yadkin County and am raising my family here. I have served in the Army since 2004 and have deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan during my time in service. After completing my active service I attended UNC-Greensboro and then Wake Forest School of Law, and have continued to serve as a member of the Army Reserves.

370 Questions Answered
- Q. The check they sent for my rental deposit bounced and I accrued a bank fee. When should a lawyer get involved?
- A: Your lease agreement should anticipate bounced checks and specify how it is cured. If it doesn't, you should probably have a lawyer look over your lease and explore drafting a new one.
For the present situation, I would send the tenants a bill for the deposit plus the amount of bank fees you were charged and inform the tenants that failure to pay is likely a breach of the lease and can result in eviction.
All of this is without reviewing your lease, and my advice could change should I have been able to review it.
- Q. My husband passed away with a lot of credit card debt and medical debt. Am I responsible to pay off that debt?
- A: I highly advise you to hire an attorney and have them assist you in probating the estate. The credit card debt can likely be wiped out by opening the estate. The medical debt will unfortunately likely follow you since spouses are normally liable for the medical debts incurred by their spouse.
- Q. The city demolished my home. Do I need to continue to make payments on it?
- A: First, you need to contact your insurance carrier, they will likely cover the costs for an attorney and pay off your mortgage. You also need to contact an attorney in the area near where the house was and get them to find out exactly what happened. You may have a substantial claim against whoever demolished the house.
