- Q. Can you please give me the shorest summarized list of the general criminal statutes in the state of North Carolina?
- A: Unfortunately, I don't believe what you are looking for really exists. There is nothing that you could generally call a "shortest summarized list of the general criminal statutes" in North Carolina (or really any state for that matter). The list of general criminal statutes and punishments is anything but short and summarized. To help you, however, I would suggest that you go online to the state's website that provides all of the text for criminal law in North Carolina. From there, you can browse all of the criminal statutes, find elements for the crimes, and sentencing/punishment provisions. The link is here: http://www.ncga.state.nc.us/gascripts/statutes/statutestoc.pl?Chapter=0014 As you will see, criminal law in North Carolina is incredibly complex. If you have a serious need, it's best to consult with a licensed criminal defense attorney. Most of the time, consultations are free and you can get a good idea of what private representation might cost if you are looking to hire a good defense attorney. -Andrew McAdams McAdams Law PLLC www.utahcriminaldefenseattorney.net (also licensed in NC)
