Biography

Alexander L. Kaplan, Esq., graduated St. John's Law School in 1974. He then worked for Harry H. Lipsig, the foremost trial lawyer in New York City at the time. During the 1970's and early 1980's, he represented numerous Fire, Police and Sanitation employees injured or killed in the line of duty and their families. During that same period, he was instrumental in the formation of the Fire Alarm Dispatchers Benevolent Association (Fire Union) as well as representing the Fire Marshals Union of the FDNY. It is safe to say that he was involved in one form or another in every major litigation in the City of New York where Firefighters were injured or killed in the line of duty during that time, as well as representing numerous civilians injured or killed in fires. He also served as an Auxiliary Fire Captain with Engine 292 and Rescue 4 in Queens, N.Y. For his services he was made an Honorary Fire Chief by the Fire Chiefs Association and then appointed an Honorary Deputy Chief, F.D.N.Y., by the Fire Commissioner. He also served the American Red Cross as a First Aid instructor.

In 1986, he moved to Florida and opened his practice here. Subsequently, after obtaining his Pilot's License, he enrolled in the Auxiliary of the United States Air Force (Civil Air Patrol), serving in various active positions including Air Search and Rescue Mission Pilot, Ground Team Commander, Communications Specialist, JAG Officer, Mission Commander, Director of Emergency Services for the Florida Wing, Group Commander of Palm Beach County and Deputy Commander of Monroe, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and Broward Counties. He graduated Air Command and Staff College and the Air Force War College. He retired after 20 years of service in 2012 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel along with numerous awards, medals and commendations and certificates of military accomplishments.
