Abbas Hadjian

ABBAS HADJIAN, https://abbashadjian.com/ is a nationally recognized California Certified Family Law Specialist (CFLS). He is Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML) and the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL). Mr. Hadjian is a bi-lingual (Farsi & English) expert in Mahr, Iranian Civil Law, Family Law and Procedure, and legal documents, who has testified in Federal and State Courts on these topics. In addition to providing expert testimony on Iranian family law and dowry / mahr, Mr. Hadjian’s law practice is limited to litigation of complicated Family Law issues, and private or Court assigned mediation.
Mr. Hadjian was born in Iran and graduated from Tehran University, School of Law, Economics and Political Science in 1965. He continued his studies in Harvard University, Kennedy School of Government, Massachusetts, and obtained a Master in Public Administration in 1976. In 1986 he graduated with J.D., from La Verne University. For a period of twenty (20) years prior to practice of law, he was a professional journalist and Assistant to five (5) Governors of the Persian Gulf Province in Iran. He is the Founder and first President of Iranian Free University, Bandar Abbas (1977-1979).
Mr. Hadjian is President of the Southern California Family Law American Inn of Court (the “AIC”), Chair-Elect of the Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association, Family Law Section (the “LACBA”) and President of the Charitable Foundation, Association of Certified Family Law Specialists (ASFLS-Foundation). He has been member of the California State Bar’s Executive Committee, Family Law Section, (FLEXCOM) for 3 years, 2014-2017. Mr. Hadjian is a past president of the Iranian American Lawyers Association (the “IALA”) Los Angeles, where he has also chaired numerous committees. - Cultural Competency in Family Practice (CCFP) is a California ( U.S.) educational project founded by Abbas Hadjian, Esq. dedicated to the study of culture and its impact on the family law litigation. The events are presented and sponsored by major public and private legal institutions, and bring together family law judges, attorneys, psychologists and financial experts for participation in topic discussion. - Culture & Lockdown - Intimate Partner Violence in a time of isolation and quarantine, 8th Annual Cultural Competency in Family Practice, Los Angeles (virtual)

- In the first virtual event due to the pandemic, 2020's program examined the cultural aspects of lockdown during the time of isolation and in particular the impact of the COVID shut down on cultural and marginalized communities. Panels included input from 22 judges, 7 attorneys, and 3 mental health professionals. There were 167 attendees from three different states who were also legal, mental health, and judicial professionals.
