"The most important aspect of representing a client is to identify their own goals. Together, we tailor a legal strategy to achieve those goals in an emotionally and financially effective matter."
~Attorney David S. Kowalski
Attorney David S. Kowalski has worked in family law for the last ten years, first as a paralegal, then as an attorney. David graduated cum laude from Marquette Law School in 2006, after graduating cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science from Rutgers University. He concentrates his practice on divorce, restraining order matters, child custody and placement, post-divorce modification of support, maintenance, and placement, and routinely serves as a Guardian ad Litem for minors. His clients come from all social and economic backgrounds, from business owners to students to stay-at-home parents. Divorce is stressful for all clients and their families, and David helps each client through this difficult process with dignity and respect.
In 2010, he served as Wisconsin's representative to the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Annual Community Property State s Symposium in Seattle, presenting Wisconsin's contribution to Valuation and Disposition Strategies in a Changing Economy. He also recently served as the program chair for a State Bar of Wisconsin seminar entitled Determing Business Income and Valuation at Divorce.
David believes it is important to devote time to the legal and social community. Therefore, he serves on the Courthouse and Delivery of Legal Services Committees of the Dane County Bar Association, and as an instructor in Globe University's paralegal program in Madison. He also frequently volunteers at the Dane County Family Law Assistance Center, and speaks on family issues to organizations such as the YWCA. David has also worked with the Volunteer Lawyers Project to provide pro bono representation to clients who lack the means to retain an attorney.
