About this Organization:
The Women’s Shelter of East Texas provides 24-hour support, housing and referral service to battered women and their children. In addition, counseling is offered to men, women and children who are battered and/or sexually assaulted./ The shelter is staffed 24 hours a day by people trained to assist the family violence victim. Staff members will provide support and resources but will encourage women to take control of their own lives and change the battering situation. The Shelter also provides educational services to the East Texas area on issues affecting women and families. Through provisions of service, support, and education, the Shelter’s goal is to promote the equality of women and bring an end to family violence in East Texas. Legal advocacy for divorces and protective orders.
Restrictions:
The shelter assists victims in Nacogdoches, Angelina, Shelby, Houson, Polk, San Jacinto, San Augustine, Sabine, and Trinity counties.
