Barry Kane is the managing member and founder of the firm. Mr. Kane is a registered patent attorney counseling corporations and individuals on a wide range of intellectual property matters, but primarily on matters involving patent, trademark matters.
Prior to starting Kane & Company, Mr. Kane was a member and the chair of the Intellectual Property Department in a law firm of 100+ attorneys located in Grand Rapids. Before entering private practice in 1991, Mr. Kane was with the corporate legal department of Western Atlas International, Inc., a joint venture of Litton Industries and Dresser Atlas and responsible for handling patent matters for several divisions.
Mr. Kane is admitted to practice in California, Florida, Indiana, Michigan, and New York, and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. He is also admitted before several appeals courts, including the United States Supreme Court, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and the United States Districts Courts for the Northern and Central District of California, Connecticut District Court, the Central District of Florida, the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan, the Southern District of New York, and the Central District of Texas, among others.

Articles and Presentations
Mr. Kane was a regular contributor to Business Alert and Business Law Update publications, and has lectured and written on intellectual property topics for professional journals and meetings, including patents, trademarks, Internet domain name disputes, copyrights and e-commerce. From 1992 through 1997, he was the co-author and editor of the Michigan Chapter for the International Trademark Association publication entitled, Trademark, and Unfair Competition.
