My decision to become a criminal defense attorney was the product of a horrifying personal hardship. As a young adult I was the victim of police brutality, which resulted in a fractured skull, a broken thumb, several body lacerations and five false counts of criminal charges. Although I was later found not guilty on all criminal charges, this unfortunate event shaped who I am today as a criminal attorney.

My life has been and continues to be a testament to the pursuit of justice for those subjected to law enforcement's sometimes overzealous tactics. I firmly believe in the United States Constitution, particularly the rights afforded to every individual under the Due Process Clause of the 5th and 14th Amendment. It is not only my job but my life passion to uphold and protect those Constitutional rights.

With these ideals in mind, I went on to attend the Thomas Jefferson School of Law, where I gained the knowledge to support my passion for law. I refined my knowledge while working with several prominent law firms. However, it was my experiences working at a Public Defender's Office that grounded me and helped deepen my understanding of the situations that many individuals accused of crimes go through. This human perspective is critical in developing open communication with clients and gaining their trust.

I founded Joslyn Law Firm with the mission of strongly advocating for the rights of men, women, and minors who face criminal charges. No matter the charges that my client face, they can be assured that they are being given the highest level of attention, all of my knowledge and dedication to their case. Located in Columbus, Ohio, my law firm represents clients throughout Central Ohio, including out-of-state visitors.

My legal practice is primarily focused on criminal defense. This includes OVI (operating vehicle under the influence), domestic violence, probation violation, drug charges, marijuana arrests, violent crimes, weapon violations, and other misdemeanor and felony offenses. I also provide guidance and representation for protective order hearings, license revocation hearings, emergency bond hearings, criminal records sealing, and other administrative matters.

Given my early experience with law enforcement and police brutality, I also passionately represent clients in civil rights cases. My firsthand experience gives me a deep perspective of police misconduct, police brutality, false arrest, false evidence, police intimidation, and police corruption matters. I understand the anxiety that people in these situations face and I fiercely defend their rights against even the most intimidating police departments.

Mr. Lewis is a Dean's List graduate of Miami (Ohio) University (1978) and earned his Juris Doctorate from The Ohio State University Moritz College Law in 1981. His legal expertise has been recognized by many public officials, as evidenced by his appointment (by Governor Celeste) as Member (later Chairman) of the Ohio State Parking Commission; his appointments as Special Counsel to: the City Attorneys of Columbus, Hilliard, and Whitehall, the Columbus Board of Education, Ohio Attorneys General Celebreeze, Fisher, and Cordray, the Ohio Democratic Party, the Ohio State Auditor, and the Hilliard Development Corporation; his appointments as General Counsel to the Franklin County Democratic Party and Law Clerk to the Ohio House Judiciary Committee; and his numerous appointments as Receiver/Receiver's counsel and Special Master by various judges of the Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

A frequent lecturer and writer in the areas of both Trial Practice and Land Use Planning and Zoning Law, Mr. Lewis is/has been a member of the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers, the Franklin County Trial Lawyers Association, the Ohio Association of Civil Trial Attorneys, and the American, Ohio State, and Columbus Bar Associations (co-chairman of the bench-bar retreat committee). He has also served the community: on the Boards of Trustees of the Alvis House and of the Salesian Inner-city Boys and Girls Club; as Franklin County Longhouse Chief in the YMCA Indian Princess Program; as a volunteer for the Columbus Bar Association's Pro Bono Program; as a mentor in the Ohio State University Law Student Mentor Program; as a Nominee of the Franklin County Municipal Court to the Ohio Supreme Court's New Lawyer Mentor Program; as a volunteer in the Legal Aid Society Lawyer Referral Project; as a volunteer in the Columbus Bar Association's Lawyers for Justice Program, and as a judge in the Ohio State and Capital Law Schools' Moot Court programs.

In 2008, in what may be the first such instance in Ohio jurisprudential history, Mr. Lewis successfully obtained Writs of Prohibition/Mandamus against the Franklin County Court of Appeals in a case that he filed and argued in the Ohio Supreme Court, State ex rel. Sapp v. Franklin Cty. Court of Appeals, 118 Ohio St.3d 368, 2008-Ohio-2637.

Mr. Lewis is licensed to practice law and appear before all Ohio state courts and agencies, the United States District Courts for both the Northern and Southern Districts of Ohio, the Sixth Circuit United States Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He has also been admitted pro hac vice to appear before state courts in Louisiana and federal courts in California and Wisconsin.

Mr. Streb was born at Dover, Ohio and graduated from New Philadelphia High School where he was an All-Ohio Selection in football and wrestling. He attended The Ohio State University from which he received an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, a master’s degree in Journalism, and a Ph.D. in Media Studies. He received a Juris Doctorate degree from Capital University Law School. While in graduate school, he worked as an investigator for the Ohio Attorney General’s Office and a teaching assistant at The Ohio State University. After law school, he worked as an attorney for the Columbus law firm of Crabbe, Jones, Potts & Schmidt, and he left there to go into private practice in 1987.

Mr. Streb is a member of the Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, Ohio State Supreme Court, United States District Court, United States Court Of Appeals, United State Tax Court, and United States Supreme Court. He has for many years represented small and medium sized business, especially in the construction industry, and he works as a litigator in both state and federal courts.

He served on the national Board Of Directors of the United States Fencing Association, Inc. from 2006 to 2010, as President of the Columbus Soccer League, Inc. from 1980 to 1990, and as President of the Great Lakes Section of USFA from 2004 to present. He coached youth football, baseball, and fencing in Upper Arlington, Ohio where he is a member of the UA Civic Association. He is a member of the United States Fencing Association, Ohio State Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, Federalist Society, and OSU Photo & Cinema Alumni Society. He has been a member of seven U. S. National Fencing Teams, competing in the U.S., Austria, Australia, France, and Russia. Mr. Streb is the author of newspaper and magazine articles, scholarly articles in law and media studies, and literary works.
