Paul Ticen joined White Berberian as Of Counsel in 2010, where he represents clients ranging from corporations, to small businesses and individuals. He offers legal services in the areas of bankruptcy (Chapter 7), bankruptcy litigation (adversarial proceedings), civil litigation (commercial, real estate and injury) and disciplinary hearings before licensing boards. Paul also counsels and assists businesses in complying with government regulations and licensure requirements.
Paul was born in Seattle and raised in nearby Bellevue, Washington. Despite being a lifelong Washington Husky football fan, Paul attended Washington State University in Pullman to play baseball. He was also a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon, where he served on the board as Risk Manager. Following graduation, Paul headed to the sunny climes of San Diego to begin work in the insurance industry. He was quickly promoted to litigation specialist where he honed his negotiation skills traveling throughout California attending mediations and settlement conferences. Paul relocated to Scottsdale, where he worked for Scottsdale Insurance Company handling commercial automobile and trucking claims.
Paul temporarily left Arizona to attend law school at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento. At McGeorge, Paul graduated with distinction and was awarded membership in the Traynor Society. Paul returned to Scottsdale Insurance Company after the bar exam where he handled high exposure claims in the areas of liquor, products and general liability. In January 2007, Paul began practicing with a reputable civil litigation firm in Phoenix.
Paul's litigation experience includes taking and defending depositions, negotiating settlements, drafting and arguing motions before State and Federal courts. Paul has successfully represented clients in arbitration hearings, receiving several defense awards and favorable awards in others. He second chaired a three-day commercial arbitration hearing that resulted in significant award in favor of the firm's client. Paul has also represented debtors and creditors in bankruptcy court, including adversarial proceedings started by creditors and trustees. Paul has also assisted clients with the short sale process and has defended clients against lender deficiency actions. Last, Paul has represented clients before the Arizona Board of Chiropractic Examiners and submitted position statements on behalf of clients to other governmental entities.
Paul is an avid college football and professional baseball fan. He is a certified CrossFit trainer and member of CrossFit Forever Strong, a CrossFit affiliate in Chandler. Paul enjoys CrossFit's intensity, functional exercises and camaraderie.
