Ms. Sammis graduated with Honors from the University of Florida College of Law in Gainesville, Florida, in 1999. Ms. Sammis served as Vice Chair on the Executive Board for the UF Justice Campbell Thornal Moot Court Board.

She completed internships at the State Attorney's Office for the Fourth Judicial Circuit prosecuting cases in the felony division, and the United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division, working with federal prosecutors.

She also completed a federal judicial internship with the Honorable Henry Lee Adams, Jr., United States District Judge, for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division.

After gaining valuable trial experience working with state and federal prosecutors, Ms. Sammis became an Assistant Public Defender in the Fourth Judicial Circuit in Florida defending individuals charged with misdemeanor, juvenile and felony offenses.

Eight years ago, Ms. Sammis entered private practice as a criminal defense attorney representing individuals charged with misdemeanor and felony offenses. From the day I graduated law school over 10 years ago, I immediately found myself in the courtroom advocating for my clients while working as an attorney at a large civil litigation law firm in Manhattan, New York. There, I represented clients ranging from automobile and premises liability insurance companies, to the New York City Housing and New York City Transit Authorities, to Delta Saws. This firm held an "AV" rating, the highest rating a law firm can receive. After moving to Florida, I continued my litigation experience when I began working at another "AV" rated law firm, located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

My defense experience provided me with an understanding of how insurance companies evaluate claims, as well as the strategies and techniques used by insurance companies and adjusters in defending against lawsuits filed by injured individuals. I now put my defense and litigation background to use for my injured clients.
