Since graduating from law school in 1998 Ms. Rudenstine primarily has represented individuals on appeal following convictions for serious felonies in both state and federal court.

In 1998-99, she held a one-year clerkship with the New Jersey Supreme Court, serving both as Death Penalty Clerk for the entire Court and as law clerk for Justice Alan B. Handler. She then worked as a staff attorney for two non-profit legal organizations, the Equal Justice Initiative in Montgomery, Alabama and the Center for Death Penalty Litigation in Durham, North Carolina. In both organizations, she exclusively represented death row inmates in direct appeal and postconviction proceedings.

In 2004, Ms. Rudenstine settled in Gainesville, FL. After a stint teaching the criminal defense clinic at the University of Florida and serving as a visiting professor at Florida Coastal School of Law, she opened her own criminal appellate practice.

Ms. Rudenstine has published in various areas, including race and the law, juvenile detention and the importance of narrative in legal advocacy. Her co-authored article "The Briseno Dilemma" is one portion of an entire edition of the New York University Clinical Law Review devoted to deconstructing the failed prosecutions of four Los Angeles law enforcement officers charged with beating Rodney King. (Stories Told and Untold: Lawyering Theory Analyses of the First Rodney King Assault Trial. Introduction by Anthony G. Amsterdam, Randy Hertz and Robin Walker-Sterling, 12 Clinical L. Rev. 1-202 (2005)).

Mr. Carlyle has consistently been named to Florida Trend's Florida Legal Elite in Appellate Practice and as a Florida Super Lawyer in Appellate Law by Thomson Reuters.

Mr. Carlyle has an extensive background in appellate as well as commercial litigation. Prior to joining The Carlyle Appellate Law Firm, he practiced a wide range of commercial litigation with Holland & Knight, LLP and McLin & Burnsed, P.A. Mr. Carlyle is admitted to practice in Florida state and federal courts, the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the Supreme Court of the United States. He is a certified Circuit Court Mediator, and is also a certified Appellate Court Mediator.

Mr. Carlyle graduated cum laude from the Pepperdine University School of Law, where he was associate editor of the Pepperdine Law Review. Mr. Carlyle was selected to the Dean's List each of his three years in law school.

Mr. Carlyle is a member of The Florida Bar, and is active in the Bar's Appellate Practice Section. He currently serves on the Appellate Practice Section's Executive Council, and is the Sectionâs CLE Chair. Mr. Carlyle is also a member of the Appellate Court Rules Committee.

In addition to his state and national bar activities, Mr. Carlyle is a member of the Bar Associations of Orange, Lake, Sumter and Marion Counties. He also has an extensive background in community service. He was a member of Leadership Florida's Class XXV, and he currently serves on Leadership Florida's Council of Advisors. He was president of the Leadership Lake County Class of 2000. He is a Vice President and Board Member of Boys & Girls Clubs of Lake and Sumter Counties, Inc., and is a Board Member of SunTrust Lake County Administrative Board.
