Timothy P. Martin, a resident of DuPage County, is a Partner with the LAW OFFICES OF MARTIN & KENT, LLC. Mr. Martin received his Juris Doctorate from the John Marshall Law School, Chicago, Illinois. While in law school, Mr. Martin served as an associate editor of the John Marshall Law Review. His work on the law review lead to a nationally published article in the area of criminal law.

In 2009, Tim Martin was elected President of the DuPage County Criminal Defense Bar Association. He was re-elected President by his peers for the calendar year 2010. Additionally, he also serves as a Director of the entire Bar Association of DuPage County.

Mr. Martin has 17 years of legal experience. He was initially hired by Attorney General and former DuPage State's Attorney Jim Ryan as a Prosecutor. Mr. Martin is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, DuPage County Bar Association, Chicago Bar Association, Kane County Bar Association, and the National Association of Criminal Defense Attorneys Association. He has served on the campaign committee staff in both campaigns for Attorney General Jim Ryan in 1994 and 1998. Mr. Martin has also served in local and statewide politics. Mr. Martin was recently published in the DuPage county Bar Association Journal in June, 2004 authoring an article that advocating the halt of Excited Utterance Statements of trial evidence following the U.S. Supreme Court case of Crawford v. Washington, 448, 100 S. CT. 2531 (2004). More recently, the Governor has appointed Mr. Martin to the position of Commissioner on the Illinois Racing Board where he regularly adjudicates appeals brought to the board by various litigants.

William V. McGrath is a native of the Chicago area, residing in DuPage County since 1985. He studied History and Political Science at Marquette University , receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University in 1973. Mr. McGrath was awarded his law degree from John Marshall Law School in 1977. He was elected to that law school's Law Review in his second year, graduated in the top 10% of his class, and received his degree cum laude. From law school Mr. McGrath joined a boutique civil litigation firm on LaSalle Street in Chicago , and began practicing state and federal business, real estate and construction litigation and transactional law. He also appeared in Federal trial and appellate courts. He was trial and appellate attorney in the Federal District Court and 7th Circuit Court of Appeals for the successful plaintiffs in Boden v. McCain, collecting a $6 million recovery cited by the Jury Verdict Reporter and Chicago Daily Law bulletin as a top 10 business verdict of the year. In 2005, Mr. McGrath was appellate counsel in obtaining reversal of an adverse trial court judgment in a commercial real estate brokerage commission case involving the sale of a parcel of real estate valued at $10.8 million. On retrial, Mr. McGrath obtained judgment in favor of the real estate broker in the amount of $540,000 based on implied contract. Recent trials to verdict include cases involving claimed prescriptive easement on commercial real estate, and breach of builder's implied warranty of habitability.
Mr. McGrath has long represented one of Chicago 's largest commercial roofing contractors. In the course of that representation he has been involved in mechanic's lien and construction litigation involving McCormick Place, 2 Prudential Towers, the Hotel Sofitel, 900 N. Michigan Avenue, Millennium Park and numerous public and university construction projects. He represents the Chicagoland Roofers Joint Apprenticeship & Training Committee of the Roofers Union and Illinois Roofing Contractors, and a major national roofing materials company.
In his leisure hours, Mr. McGrath enjoys playing piano and golfing.

I am a native Chicagoan, and moved to DuPage County in 1972.

I attended DePaul Law School full-time in the evening, while working for one of the major trust companies in the Chicago Loop. I therefore received extensive training and experience in Estate Planning, Probate and Tax matters, and have practiced in those areas for over 30 years.

My first employment after law school was with a Chicago law firm that specialized in Real Estate and Real Estate Development matters. I worked for them for several years, adding extensive experience in both residential and commercial real estate transactions and commercial real estate development to my legal expertise.

As a private practitioner in DuPage County, I continued practicing in these fields, and added representation of clients in divorce and other domestic and family related matters. I have now represented hundreds of clients relative to dissolution of their marriages. Several judges have also appointed me as Guardian ad-litem or attorney for children in troubled situations or in complex divorce cases.

I feel that my expertise in each of these areas compliment the other. For example, complex divorces often involve real estate or business holdings, with the accompanying valuation and ownership issues. Sometimes, a trust for the benefit of children is appropriate. In doing estate planning, there is often the need to plan appropriately for the second marriage situation. Real estate clients also often need to appropriately plan their estates, and to take title to their home in a manner that is consistent with their ultimate estate desires.

I was admitted to practice in the courts of Illinois in 1971 and the U.S. Federal Court in 1971, and admitted to practice before the U.S. Tax Court in 1992. I am a member of both the Illinois and DuPage County Bar Associations.

I have been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Glen Ellyn for some years, and am presently the President of the club. As such, I recently accepted, on behalf of our club, the Family Shelter Services Civic Partner of the year award. We work closely with Family Shelter Services and other organizations to provide benefits to children in need.

My primary hobby is the study of history, particularly of the American Civil War period. I am the past president of two Civil War Round Tables (Chicago and Salt Creek, which meets in Glen Ellyn, Illinois), and a member of three Round Tables (Chicago, Salt Creek and Milwaukee). I have also given presentations, on a number of topics, to round tables throughout the midwest.
