Douglas C. Gardner is a Native of Northeastern Arizona, and a fourth generation Arizonan.

Prior to law school, Douglas worked for several years for Bechtel Corporation, one of America’s largest privately held corporations, as an accounting manager. Douglas attended law school and earned his M.B.A. simultaneously. During Law School, Douglas clerked for the Honorable Randy Haines of the United States Bankruptcy Court in the District of Arizona. Douglas also participated in the Arizona State Law Journal as a Staff Writer and then an Articles Editor. At the same time, Douglas also participated in Jurimetrics: The Journal of Law, Science, and Technology as an Associate Editor and then as a Senior Editor, where he was recognized as the “Outstanding Associate Editor” and published his case note.

Mr. Cork has worked at the Department of Defense Criminal Investigative Services where he assisted in the development of evidence files to be used in court, analyzed case files in a variety of different criminal cases, conducted research and helped prepare documents and discovery. I have practiced family law in Arizona and Nebraska. The laws across the nation are vastly different based on the community in which you practice. However, there is a marked trend across the nation to move away from the litigious practice of family law. Courts and family law organizations are beginning to offer a much wider and more encompassed approach to training all areas of family law in a manner that encourages settlement. Not just a settlement that keeps the parties out of Court, but a settlement that puts into place a realistic parenting plan, financial structure and maintenance provisions. The hope, and the philosophy that I have adopted for my practice, is that families can continue to operate as functional units despite the life-changing process of divorce. Children can continue to feel like their parents communicate for their best interest, and the parents can feel that they are equally valued in making decisions for their children. There is a better way to "cut the ties" and I welcome the opportunity to focus my practice on this apporach.

Ms. Perry's educational focus in psychology and knowledge of family dynamics offers a unique perspective and solid foundation for her work in the area of Family Law.
