James S. Cunha was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but raised in Florida. Mr. Cunha began his undergraduate education at Palm Beach Community College (now called Palm Beach State College), where he obtained his Associate of Arts degree and, during his attendance, had the privilege of serving as the college’s elected Student Body President. Upon graduating from Palm Beach Community College, Mr. Cunha was admitted into the undergraduate program at the University of Florida where he earned two bachelor degrees while pursuing majors in Finance, Political Science and a minor in Economics—within two years. After completing his undergraduate studies, Mr. Cunha remained in Gainesville, Florida where he earned his law degree (Juris Doctor) from the Fredric G. Levin College of Law at the University of Florida.
In order to obtain immediate courtroom and trial experience, Mr. Cunha became and proudly served as an Assistant State Attorney in Palm Beach County. After several years as a felony prosecutor and over a hundred jury trials, Mr. Cunha established the Law Offices of James S. Cunha, P.A., which represents clients in a wide variety of litigation matters in South Florida, including personal injury, wrongful death, commercial disputes, insurance coverage, family law, and tax cases.
Since 2010, Mr. Cunha has individually litigated and recovered over $6 million dollars for his clients in wrongful death, personal injury, and commercial dispute cases.
Mr. Cunha also aggressively and effectively represents clients in marital and family law cases involving complex, high asset divorces, as well as matters dealing with child custody, alimony, child support, post-judgment modifications of alimony and child support, paternity and guardianship.
