Brian R. Murphy is a civil justice and criminal defense attorney licensed to practice in all state and federal courts of South Carolina.

Brian was born and raised in Fort Mill, South Carolina and graduated from Fort Mill High School. Brian earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Winthrop University in business administration with an emphasis in computer information systems, graduating cum laude. After working for a computer engineering firm, he attended law school at the University of South Carolina, School of Law.

Brian was honored with memberships in the South Carolina Law Review, the law school’s flagship scholarly journal focusing on legal issues, and the Order of the Wig and Robe, a legal scholastic organization that recognizes students with the most outstanding scholastic records. Additionally, he received the CALI awards in Civil Procedure I, Civil Procedure II, and Income Tax. The CALI award recognizes the achievement of the student with the highest grade in the class. He also had the opportunity to assist fellow law students in their study and exam preparation for Property Law through the school’s academic assistance program.

Adam focuses his legal practice on real estate, business transactions, civil litigation and local government law. Before forming Artigliere & Clark, Adam worked in the Anderson office of a large, state wide law firm, where he concentrated his work serving local government clients. During that time, he served as the interim Anderson County Attorney.

Adam was recently recognized by the Anderson Independent Mail as one of the Anderson Area’s emerging leaders as a recipient of the 20 Under 40 award. Adam is currently the Vice Chair of the Anderson Area Chamber of Commerce's Board of Regents, a founding Board Member of the Anderson Business and Education Alliance (AlignSC), as well as a member of the Florida Bar, the South Carolina Bar, and the ABA.

Adam graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in 1995, where he majored in History. Prior to his career as an attorney, Adam managed a tour company in Charleston South Carolina, which performed walking tours of Charleston’s Historic District. During his time in Charleston, Adam developed a unique perspective on business, management and marketing that has served him well during his career as an attorney.

Adam received a juris doctor degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Florida, Levin College of Law in 2006. While at the University of Florida, Adam served as the Chair of the Honor Committee and was the Executive Articles Editor of the Florida Journal of International Law.
