About Micah U Buchdahl

Micah Buchdahl is an attorney focused on assisting law firms with business development initiatives, while maintaining an active law practice. He is Chair-Elect of the American Bar Association's Law Practice Management Section, and creator of the ABA's inaugural Law Firm Marketing Strategies Conference. Micah is a faculty member of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute, where he has taught law marketing ethics courses annually for nearly a decade.

Based in Moorestown, New Jersey, he is president of HTMLawyers, Inc., a law marketing company. Micah draws vision and ideas from a well of career experience. He worked in the Philadelphia Municipal Court as a mediator and arbitrator. He was formerly associate corporate counsel with the Philadelphia Flyers and Spectacor, as well as director of NBA Photos, a marketing division of the National Basketball Association. With HTMLawyers, he has worked with law firms of all shapes and sizes on initiatives ranging from business development planning to audits of existing marketing efforts, client surveys, law firm retreats and CLE programming.

He originated the title of Internet Marketing Attorney in 1997, and is known internationally for his biannual review of law firm web sites.

Prior to law school, he worked in marketing and public relations functions within the National Hockey League and Major Indoor Soccer League. He also served as a journalist for The Baltimore Sun. Micah attended Temple University both as an undergraduate (B.A., journalism, magna cum laude, 1985) and later for Law School (J.D., Dean's List, class president, 1991). He is admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar.

Micah and his wife, Ivy, are the proud parents of daughter Lily Helena and son Benjamin Eli. They reside in Moorestown, New Jersey. Micah serves on the Board of Trustees of Congregation M'kor Shalom in Cherry Hill.

Company is focused on providing attorneys and law firms with business development guidance through a retainer program, project work (i.e. marketing audits, client surveys, strategic planning and development) and programs (i.e. retreats, in-house CLEs, attorney marketing training and development). Provides ethics oversight and compliance in regard to lawyer advertising rules and restrictions.

Served as the Internet Marketing Attorney for a legal publishing entity, providing marketing guidance to law firms throughout the world. Provided legal guidance for clients in areas that included television contracts and production, licensing and trademark-enforcement issues in sports collectibles, sponsorship, media & public relations for corporate clients and professional sports organizations. General Law Practice, including contract review, alternative dispute resolution, family law, criminal law, landlord/tenant law and corporate legal issues/cases.
Associate Counsel, Philadelphia Flyers / Spectacor1995-1995
Served as in-house counsel for the CoreStates Center, Spectrum and Philadelphia Flyers. Primarily negotiated agreements for Marketing, Premium Seating and Advertising/Sales. Handled legal issues for every department, including Operations and Events, Merchandising, Ticketing and Group Sales. Generated revenue through sales and marketing projects.

Served as a Pennsylvania state-certified arbitrator and mediator. Served as a hearing master in the Court's Domestic Abuse Unit.
Director, NBA Photos, National Basketball Association1992-1992
Directed NBA's Photography Division, including marketing and sale of still imagery, legal approval of usage, negotiating client and photography contracts, and budgeting. Managerial duties included coordination of photo needs of NBA, NBA Properties, NBA Entertainment and league member teams; oversaw a staff of seven. Handled issues with league licensees, including card companies (i.e. Upper Deck), sportswear (i.e. Nike), corporate sponsors (i.e. Gatorade) and media (i.e. NBC).
