Lisa K Fair McEvers

Lisa K. Fair McEvers is a native of Minto, North Dakota. She earned her undergraduate degree in information management from the University of North Dakota in 1993. She earned her law degree from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 1997. She served as a law clerk to the North Dakota Supreme Court during the 1997-1998 term. She was in private legal practice from 1998-2001 and became a Cass County Assistant State's Attorney in 2001. She was appointed North Dakota Commissioner of Labor by Gov. John Hoeven in 2005. She was appointed District Judge by Gov. Hoeven in 2010 and elected to the post in 2012. Effective January 1, 2014, she was appointed by Governor Jack Dalrymple to the North Dakota Supreme Court to fill the vacancy created by Justice Mary Muehlen Maring's retirement. Prior to attending law school, she worked for the Northeast Judicial District in court administration for seven years. She has served on the Judicial Education Committee, the Judiciary Standards Committee, the State Bar Association's Commission for Continuing Education, the Rough Rider Industries Prison Advisory Board, and the Pattern Jury Instruction Commission. She chairs the Juvenile Drug Court Advisory Committee, and she is a member of the Juvenile Policy Board, Personnel Policy Board, Alternatives to Incarceration Interim Legislative Committee, and the United Tribes Criminal Justice Advisory Board. She is married to James McEvers. Justice McEvers has served 1 year, 5 months, and 26 days on the Supreme Court bench as of June 27, 2015.
