: Current; Recent successes include a Superior Court ruling allowing summary judgment for a portfolio company of Apax Partners on its claim that a multi-million dollar settlement in its favor was binding and enforceable; a four-day trial in New York state court for a hedge fund client in a case involving the removal for cause of a portfolio manager; resolution of a two-year government investigation of a public company client and related qui tam action; a defense verdict in a two-week jury trial in an employment discrimination case for Harvard University; an Appeals Court dismissal of a challenge to Harvard’s tenure review system; and a seven-day arbitration trial for Harry Winston, Inc. in New York. Richard has handled significant litigation matters for many public company clients of the firm, including Gillette, Reebok, Dunkin’ Donuts, and L.S. Starrett Company, as well as for portfolio companies of many of the firm’s private equity clients, including Apax Partners, Bain Capital, Berkshire Partners, and Fenway Partners. Richard is also a member of the firm’s Sports Law Group and was on the team representing the University of Miami in the lawsuit brought against Miami over its decision to leave The Big East and join the ACC.
