Incredibly Grateful I am incredibly grateful for Jeremy Saland and his efforts to resolve my arrest for criminal contempt and a family court order of protection, along with a violation of the restraining order, without any finding of wrongdoing in both courts. Without going into detail, my ex and I had broken up and both of us behaved immaturely and irresponsibly in our communications. After being served by the sheriff in Manhattan with a petition and order of protection, I immediately called my ex without reading exactly what I received. When I started to review it, I hung up immediately, but the damage was done. My ex then went to the police and filed a report against me for contempt and she and her attorney also went back to family court to file against me for violating the order because I made “contact”. After speaking to some attorneys, I hired Jeremy. Immediately after hiring him, Jeremy got to work building our defense, of which some was rightfully offense. We filed our own article 8 petition against her for her conduct and challenged the contempt charge. After months of back and forth, despite the claims and three different cases in two courts, the prosecutor offered me a plea to a civil infraction (no criminal record) to take care of the entire criminal case. My case closed without a criminal record. In family court, both my ex and I agreed to mutual orders of protection for one year without any admissions or findings. This resolved both of my two outstanding cases. Jeremy was strategic and calculated. When the other attorney tried to claim I was prevented from fighting my cases in family court because of the deal I received in criminal court, Jeremy responded with a motion to beat that falsehood back. As much as neither I nor my ex likely wanted to find ourselves in this spot, and I am hopeful we can both move forward in healthy way wherever our lives may go, but for Jeremy I would potentially have a criminal record and a decision by a judge in family court. This result would not be fair nor accurately describe what occurred, but sometimes that happens when you do not have good counsel. For me, and anyone else in a similar situation in either family or criminal court, Jeremy is that person you need at your side and who has your back.

An incredible and skillful lawyer for criminal charges. My family hired Jeremy in the summer of 2023 after i was charged with a weapons felony charge in New York. He was listed as one of the top attorneys in the state and for good reason. From that first conversation Jeremy instilled confidence in my situation and he showed his expertise in this area. He was straight forward and honest throughout the entire process regarding my charges and what to expect moving forward. He immediately outlined a strategy that we went forward with, ultimately resulting in the case against me being dismissed within 3 weeks. Jeremy does incredible work and I highly recommend him to anyone dealing with criminal matters. He’s trustworthy and skillful.

4 Questions Answered
Q. I need a permission to travel i'm on probation in NYS
A: Respectfully, this question is fairly easy to answer. If you are not permitted to travel due to probation, speak with your probation officer. Even if you are on a "hand scan" and don't regularly see a PO, there is someone you can speak with. It is not advisable to merely take matters into your own hands. You could end up violating the terms of your probation. Again, there is a simple answer to this and your PO is the source.
Q. Do I break the law by paying 'protection' money for my business? I don't like it, but I don't want to risk getting hurt.
A: Your question is too vague. Are you paying someone who ultimately hurts another person to protect you? Are you aware of this or consent to this? Are these people whom are being paid threatening you to force you to pay them? Don't answer these questions in a public forum, but consider seeking a consultation as to this issue with an attorney. It appears as if there is certainly something inappropriate, fraudulent or "illegal" (for lack of better terms) going on.
Q. Can you be arrested for narcotic charges if they only have hear say? Can they come get you and for what?
A: There is a vast difference between arrest, indictment and conviction. While an arrest requires probable cause, a conviction requires proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Hearsay may be sufficient for an arrest (think the domestic violence context), but for the case to proceed to indictment or conviction, much more is required. Certainly, each case has unique facts and would require an analysis with your criminal defense attorney. In the context of drug sales, however, hearsay alone will likely not lead to an arrest. Yet, corroboration can change this. Were drugs recovered from you when you were confronted? Did you admit to a crime? Did you have drug records on your person? Did a search warrant reveal all of the above in some manner? No attorney can give a blanket answer, but if an individual merely says that you sold him drugs, absent any corroboration, an arrest is not likely. It is important to note, even if you are not arrested, this may result in you becoming a target of an investigation where a case may be built against you. Remember, anyone can get arrested. Whether you are guilty or the charges have any merit is an entirely separate issue. ... Read More
