About Rutgers School of Law Urban Legal Clinic

About this Organization:
The Urban Legal Clinic was established over 30 years ago to assist low-income clients with legal problems that are caused or exacerbated by urban poverty. Civil matters handled by the Clinic include housing, consumer protection, bankruptcy, matrimonial, civil rights, and Social Security/disability. The Clinic's Criminal Defense Project provides representation to clients who have been charged with minor criminal offenses. In recent years, Clinic students have successfully litigated matters involving truth-in-lending, conditions in Newark's public housing projects, and unlawful searches and seizures by the police, among many others.
