Abby Pendleton is a founding partner of The Health Law Partners, P.C. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wayne State University Law School in 1996 and is a member of the Order of the Coif. Ms. Pendleton was a member of the Wayne State Law Review and served on its editorial board as a Senior Articles Editor. While at Wayne State, she was a recipient of the American Jurisprudence Book Awards in Contracts and Criminal Law as well as the Deloitte and Touche LLP Award for her achievement in tax law.

Ms. Pendleton has been practicing healthcare law since 1996. She regularly provides counsel to healthcare providers and organizations in a number of areas, including but not limited to: compliance, Recovery Audit Contractors ("RACs"), Medicare and other payor audits, fraud and abuse, reimbursement matters, and HIPAA Privacy and Security, and physician staff privilege and licensure matters. Ms. Pendleton also specializes in legal issues impacting billing and management companies, anesthesia and pain management providers, hospice providers and mental health agencies.

Ms. Pendleton is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (Member, Health Care Law Section); the American Health Lawyer's Association; the Health Care Compliance Association; the Medical Group Management Association and the Michigan Medical Group Management Association.

Carey F. Kalmowitz is a founding partner of The Health Law Partners, P.C. Mr. Kalmowitz graduated from New York University Law School in 1994 and from Vassar College in 1989.

Mr. Kalmowitz was admitted to the Michigan Bar in 1994. He practices in all areas of healthcare law, with specific concentration on the corporate and financial aspects of healthcare, including structuring revenue-enhancing transactions among physicians and other healthcare providers, certificate of need, compliance investigations, corporate fraud and abuse/Stark and third party payment and reimbursement. In addition, Mr. Kalmowitz also practices in the following areas of health care law:

- Counsels physicians and physician groups on integration strategies, ancillary services, employment agreements, recruitment agreements, shareholder agreements, buy ins, buy outs, compliance, third party payor audits, and negotiating joint venture and hospital relationships.
- Advises healthcare providers regarding compliance matters including the Stark Law, Anti-kickback Statute and reimbursement regulations.
- Served as general counsel of major regional healthcare system, and has significant experience with the full spectrum of hospitals' legal issues.
- Assisted a variety of providers with certificate of need projects, including two replacement hospitals and numerous CT, MRI and ASC transactions.
- Advises long-term care facilities on compliance and business issues.
- Represents a variety of health care providers, including physicians, ambulatory surgery centers, long-term care facilities and durable medical equipment suppliers with a broad range of health care transactional issues.

Mr. Kalmowitz is a member of the State Bar of Michigan, the Michigan Society of Hospital Attorneys, the American Health Lawyer's Association, and the American Bar Association.

Mr. Kalmowitz has authored several articles in the heath care field.

Robert S. Iwrey is a founding partner of The Health Law Partners, P.C. He graduated with High Distinction from the University of Michigan in 1988. While at the University of Michigan, he was an Executive Member of the Psi Chi National Honor Society and was a member of the Golden Key National Honor society. In 1993, Mr. Iwrey earned his J.D. at Wayne State University Law School, where he was awarded the American Jurisprudence Award in Advanced Legal Writing and was an award-winning member of Moot Court.

Mr. Iwrey has been a practicing litigator since 1993. In addition, he has been practicing healthcare transactional law since 1999. Mr. Iwrey provides counsel in all areas of healthcare law, including but not limited to licensure, staff privileges, contracts, physician practice issues, healthcare investigations and audit defense.

Mr. Iwrey was admitted to the Michigan Bar and the U.S. District Court Eastern District of Michigan in 1993. Mr. Iwrey was also admitted to the U.S. District Court Western District of Michigan in 2003. Mr. Iwrey is a member of the State Bar of Michigan (Member, Health Care Law Section), the American Health Lawyer's Association, American Bar Association, American Association for Justice, Michigan Association for Justice, Federal Bar Association and the Oakland County Bar Association.

In addition, Mr. Iwrey presently chairs the Oakland County Medical-Legal Committee and, in the past, has co-chaired the State Bar of Michigan Health Care Law Section Website Committee and has chaired the Technology Subcommittee of the Health Care Law Section's Substantive Law Committee. Mr. Iwrey has been elected by his peers to serve on the governing board of the Health Care Law Section, Council, through 2009 where he chairs the Pro-Bono Work Group. Mr. Iwrey has been awarded the distinguished AV rating by Martindale-Hubbell in recognition of his high level of skill and integrity.
