About Equal Justice Foundation
About this Organization:
The Equal Justice Foundation (EJF) is a Section 501(c)(3) non-profit organization providing legal representation in civil matters to disadvantaged individuals and groups throughout the state of Ohio. EJF's mission is to defend and advocate the rights of indigent, minority and other disadvantaged Ohio residents through a program of pro-active, class-action litigation in state and federal courts. EJF receives no government funding and relies on private contributions, grants and attorneys' fees for operating support. The Equal Justice Foundation represents the belief that income should not dictate access to justice. Study after study indicates that at least eighty percent of the legal needs of the poor are unmet. These individuals often represent the most vulnerable in our society, especially when legal rights are concerned. The Equal Justice Foundation advocates for and protects an individual's basic human needs of food, shelter, transportation and the right to earn a decent wage in a stable work environment.
